Experts have estimated that there are as many as 4 million hotspots located in cities all around the world, making it difficult to know which cities are the best for finding wireless hotspots. Many of these millions of hotspots can be accessed in various locations or are available city-wide either for local residents, tourists or both.

Knowing which cities are the best for finding wireless hotspots can depend upon your individual needs:

Free City-Wide Access
If you want to find free wireless hotspots, your best choices would be cities like Denver, El Paso, Honolulu, Miami Beach and Philadelphia who offer free city-wide Wi-fi access.Get more information here. http://kathleensblogspot.com/2011/10/06/cisco-valet-m10-wireless-hotspot-with-300mbps-speed-integrated-firewall-wpa-encryption-parental-controls-only-14-99/

Free or Low-Cost Location-Specific Access
Many cities across the country have free or low-cost access at specific locations such as coffee shops, book stores, libraries or other public establishments.

Networked and Secure Access
If you want to find wireless hotspots that are networked within a paid, yet much more secure system, you will want to stick with major cities such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Houston.

Most large cities offer a network of wireless hotspots provided through major businesses that will give you the access you need in a much more secure environment. Check with the city’s website before visiting to find out what is available when you travel.

Tethering a cell phone to a laptop allows you to use your phone’s data connection on your laptop. For most devices, this means you’ll be able to surf the web on your computer at 3G speeds, although 4G speeds are available on some devices. The exact steps to tethering are specific to the device and cell carrier, but the general steps remain the same.

One option to tether a smartphone is through the use of a USB cord. With this method, you’ll just need your phone, a laptop,, and a USB cord.Get more information here. http://blog.o2.co.uk/home/2011/09/-o2-tethering-how-to-set-up-your-android-phone.html Connect the phone to the laptop, and launch an app on your phone that will enable tethering. On Android, there are a number of apps in the Android Market. For an iPhone, you’ll most likely need to jailbreak your device.

Another way to tether with your cell phone is to use it as a wireless hotspot. With this method, your phone acts as a router and your laptop will see it as such. For this service, many carriers charge a fee, and then you launch an app from your phone enabling the functionality. There are also free apps on Android, such as Wireless Tether, that allow hotspot functionality. Launch the app, and then connect to your phone’s data connection as you would any other WiFi hotspot.

Tethering is easy and, for the most part, convenient. If you need internet access in a pinch, it’s the easiest way to get it. Follow the instructions outlined here, and you’ll be tethering in no time.

If you have a smartphone, a laptop, or any other wifi device, there is no reason you should not be able to get wifi at a nearby location. Unless you are in a remote suburban area, you are sure to find a bookstore in that major city.

All the bookstores almost always have free wifi, and this is one of the main reasons people go to a bookstore. They can read, but they can also sit there and use wifi. Also, there are coffee stores located within this bookstore, so people can stay there for hours and enjoy all that the book store has to offer/

The book store wifi is high quality, and there is no catch to using the bookstore’s wifi. It does not cost them much to provide the wifi for you, and it also attracts a lot of people to the bookstore for this reason. While the wifi can get slow time to time because too many people are using it, it is usually not an issue as most people do not do anything major on their wifi devices at a bookstore.

If you are looking for a place to grab wifi, the bookstore is an excellent option because it is quiet, and there are a lot of seats that you can sit in.

Many people may be shocked to learn that the United States doesn’t even crack the top ten when it comes to internet and mobile speeds. The country with the fastest mobile network is Japan, with 58 percent of its connections above 5mbps. Canada even has a faster on average mobile connection than that of the United States.

Of the fastest 100 cities in the world, only 8 cities from the United States made the list, with Riverside, California being number 1 in the United States, but number 77 in the entire world. It is clear that the cities of the United States have a long way to go to catch up with other countries of the world when it comes to fast mobile speeds.

Although 4g networks have begun to roll out in most major cities, users are not getting anywhere near the speeds that the networks are capable of achieving. When consumers find out that they are paying more than people in other countries for speeds that are much less, they are rightfully upset with the revelation.

Just last year in 2010 it was Atlanta that had the fastest mobile speed in the United States, not the city of Riverside, California.Related Article : Deindustrialization of the United States – -SHOCKING!!

When using a smart phone to browse the web such as an iPhone, or HTC Desire S, you will usually either be using an app to access particular high traffic web sites, or you will be redirected to a mobile version. Usually the mobile versions of the site are just optimized for the small screen, but occasionally they lack certain features that you really need to access. This article will discuss how to view the full website that you would normally see on your computer’s browser.

The first thing you can check, is if your web browser has a setting to default to full sites. For instance, the popular iPhone browser Safari does not. So when you load up the web site, you should first make sure you are the main page. Use your touchscreen and scroll down to the very bottom of it. You may want to zoom in on the text, because it’s generally very small. Search the page’s bottom for a link that says something like, “View full site.” After clicking it you will be brought to the normal version. Some websites offer to store this option in your phone’s cache, remembering your choice for next time.

It is a nice quite place to go for 5 minutes or 5 hours.

Other places that give free Wirleess include most local coffee shops and more recently most local fast food restaurants. Perhaps you want to go to lunch and use the Wireless at a local restaurant. You hit two birds with one stone, lunch and internet.

If all else fails, make a quick google search the next time you have the internet. There are many sites available where you can search local Wireless internet locations. Don’t go without internet longer than necessary!
