Watching Streaming Video While on the Road
Posted by admin under on October 18th, 2011.Even if you aren’t a user of the streaming movie site of Netflix, you’ve certainly heard the controversy in the split of their online streaming and their DVD movie rental. But even with the split, the company is still popular in terms of what it does best – stream videos.
Streaming video is the process of being able to watch a movie or television show through the Internet. In most cases, the video is streamed, meaning that you can pause, rewind, and fast forward through scenes and clips at your leisure. Sites like Hulu and Amazon allow users to view the newest episodes of TV shows in the case that your DVR missed its recording or if you’re just now trying to catch up.
The best thing about streaming is that you can take it anywhere that there is an Internet connection and without the bulkiness of having to carry DVD movies or filling up your hard drive with them. The growth of mobile technology, such as smartphones and tablets now allow for users to take their movies and shows with them and with the growth of the 4G networks, they can easily find ways to watch, especially while on the go.
The best way to watch is probably on a laptop, though this is best done while staying in a hotel or different lodging than your home. If you use an air card – a card in which you can access the Internet through the cell towers – you can watch on the road, as well as you are connected to the towers and providing you aren’t the one driving.
Mobile apps, like that of Hulu and Netflix, allow for their users to watch on their tablets and smartphones. In fact, many of the tablets out are utilized for movie and video watching. These apps are usually free, but do require that you are a member of that service. And because these devices run on the cellular towers, you should be able to view your favorites while on the road.
